Liverpool transfer masterstroke as exit-linked player ‘agrees new contract’

Jayden Danns will sign a new long-term contract with Liverpool before he completes a loan move to Sunderland, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported (3 February) that the 19-year-old – linked with a loan exit from Anfield – will be signing a new deal after impressing Arne Slot with his development over the past year.

The striker is set to join Sunderland on a loan deal until the end of the season, as the Reds hope he will gain regular game time that will push his development even further.

Liverpool developing Jayden Danns

This can be considered a transfer masterstroke at Anfield, as not only are the Reds allowing the youngster to go out and gain more minutes, they have future-proofed by tying him down.

Danns has shown impressive signs for Liverpool so far, having scored three goals in nine first-team appearances as well representing the senior side in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven last week.

However, to send him out on loan to the second tier is certainly the right decision as it allows him to get regular minutes and experience of first-team football on a weekly basis, which will only aid his development further.

Signing him on a new long-term contract not only secures the interests of the club but will also serve as motivation to the youngster, who will feel that his parent club want him to succeed.

If he can impress in the second tier, the opportunities at Anfield could be waiting for him.

This is an exciting deal for all parties involved and if the move goes well, the future could be bright for Danns on Merseyside.
