Liverpool ‘get transfer answer’ as player wanted by Arne Slot joins new club

Arne Slot is having an excellent debut season with Liverpool and is showing no signs of struggling to transition from the previous era.

The Reds are sitting six points clear at the top of the Premier League and face a Carabao Cup semi-final second leg with Tottenham on Thursday (6 February), as well as remaining in the Champions League and FA Cup.

However, while things are going well, Slot will be eager to add strength to his side whenever an opportunity appears with eyes towards a successful future too.

Furthermore, with a number of high-profile players out of contract at the end of the campaign, the boss can not afford not to plan for seasons to come.

One player that has been linked with the Reds for a while is Santiago Gimenez, with Slot already having discussed the possibility of his former player reuniting with him [Caught Offside].

However, Gimenez has now completed a deadline day move to AC Milan, putting to bed this link.

Arne Slot misses out on Santiago Gimenez at Liverpool

Given Slot knows the player, it’s not a surprise that he would be looking at whether a move would be feasible as it’s someone he already rates and would know how to work with in his side.

However, at the current moment, it wasn’t a deal that was needed by the Reds and similarly, the forward has to make the best decisions for his own career meaning a move to AC Milan made sense.

That being said, this must give the Liverpool boss the answer he needs over any possibility of a deal in the near future, meaning the Dutchman will now have to start considering new potential signings ahead of the summer transfer window.

It is yet to be seen whether Mo Salah will make a move away from Anfield upon the expiry of his contract or whether he will extend his stay, which will have a massive effect on the business that the Merseyside outfit will find themselves doing at the conclusion of the campaign.

While a move for Slot’s former man seems to be off the table for now, football is a funny game and in the future, if it suited both parties, a reunion could still be on the cards down the line.
