Richard Keys stunned by Liverpool ‘shocker’ he saw v Bournemouth – ‘Wow’
Richard Keys was stunned by a “shocker” that he saw as Liverpool beat Bournemouth 2-0 on Saturday.
The Reds took a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League with the victory but there was a controversial penalty decision in the 30th minute at the Vitality Stadium.
Cody Gakpo was clipped by Lewis Cook and Mohamed Salah slotted from the spot to give his side the lead but the BeIN SPORTS pundit was baffled by the decision.
In a post on X (1 February), He said: “I’m afraid we’ve seen another couple of shockers today.
“What is Darren England thinking? He’s guessed. There’s no evidence to prove he was correct.
“Whilst at Everton – wow – you won’t see a clearer pen and why a 2:50 delay at Forest for a ‘clear & obvious’ decision.”
Liverpool penalty was deserved, Keys is wrong
The former Sky Sports pundit is hardly a beloved figure among the Anfield faithful and he will not have done himself any favours with his latest opinion.
For starters, he claims that Darren England guessed but the Premier League statement released during the contest confirms that VAR checked the decision.
Secondly, there is a clear contact on the Dutchman’s heels by the Cherries defender as he is running into the box that is definitely enough to bring him down.

The controversy surrounding the incident is ridiculous and is rooted in tribalism from supporters of clubs that do not want the Reds to lift the title.
There is no conspiracy to hand the Merseysiders the trophy, they are simply by far the best team in the English game this season.
Reds supporters will be watching Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City (2 February) closely, hoping that the Gunners drop points to make the weekend even sweeter.
In other Liverpool news, Virgil van Dijk has been told to “stop it” after what he did in the win on the south coast.
