Liverpool star Mac Allister blasted on MOTD after Bournemouth controversy
Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister was “lucky” to stay on the pitch in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth, according to Shay Given.
The Reds star was booked in the 54th minute of the contest at the Vitality Stadium for stopping a Cherries counter-attack by body-checking Dango Ouattara.
He then appeared to catch David Brooks in the groin with a wild swing as he attempted to double his side’s lead just three minutes later.
Speaking on Match of the Day (1 February, 23:00), Given said: “I think he’s a wee bit lucky, if I’m being honest.
“I think his first yellow card is harsh, in the cold light of day.
“Now, this is on the hour mark, he has a full swing at Brooks here, I think on any other given day that’s a second yellow card.”
Liverpool were lucky to escape a red card
Arne Slot clearly felt that his man was lucky to stay on the pitch after the incident with Brooks.
The Argentine ace was replaced by Curtis Jones in the 61st minute, just four minutes after the controversial moment.
The Reds seemingly had a lucky day on the south coast with former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett exclusively telling Liverpool News that the first-half penalty earned by Cody Gakpo was a “poor decision.”

Reds supporters nor Slot will care about outsiders’ opinions, they secured a hard-fought victory against one of the league’s most in-form teams, who had not lost since 23 November.
The results leaves the Merseysiders nine points clear at the summit of the Premier League with Arsenal in action against Manchester City on 2 February.
If the Gunners fail to win, it will feel like a monumental moment in the title race with the Anfield outfit having a considerable margin and a game in hand.
