Mohamed Salah ‘to have social media on fire’ after what happened in Liverpool win
Mohamed Salah will have social media on fire after what happened as Liverpool beat Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium, Richard Keys says.
The experienced broadcaster believes the Egyptian forward will be the talk of the town after the Reds were awarded a penalty just before the half-hour mark on 1 February.
Referee Darren England pointed to the spot as Cody Gakpo went down in the box after a challenge from Lewis Cook, and Salah subsequently converted the penalty to put Liverpool ahead in a game they won 2-0.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS (1 February, 15:50), Keys said: “Mo Salah… I’m sure the socials will be on fire back over in England.”
Mohamed Salah penalty decision in Liverpool win v Bournemouth debatable
Cherries fans will arguably be aggrieved that Cook was penalised after what could be considered a slight touch from him on Gakpo.
While there can be debate around the decision, the Anfield faithful will be happy about the three points away from home.
The Merseyside outfit have extended their gap at the top of the table to nine points ahead of Arsenal’s game against Manchester City on Sunday (2 February).
Liverpool will be confident of lifting the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s first season in charge if the Gunners drop points at the Emirates.

Salah will also arguably not be bothered about the penalty as he added two more goals to his record, taking his tally to 21 for the season in the English top flight.
Bournemouth have been in fine form over the last few months and the Reds have done well to win away from home at the Vitality.
Slot’s team have to compete in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, followed by the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park on 12 February.
In other Liverpool news, Slot may have a dilemma to solve regarding Federico Chiesa.
