Mo Salah new contract: ‘Phenomenal’ claim made during Liverpool v Bournemouth
Stephen Warnock believes that Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah is “phenomenal” after what he did against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The attacker opened the scoring for the Reds after the Merseyside outfit were awarded a penalty which the ‘Egyptian King’ obviously ended up putting away.
Speaking live on Final Score (1 Fenruary), Warnock shared his thoughts on the former Roma man’s current contract situation at Anfield.
“What he’s done to be able to do that consistently and what you have to take into consideration is the league’s got better,” he said.
“Year on year he’s got stronger, he’s also doing it an older age now, looking at his age, he’s still going strong.
“People are going do you give him a contract? do you not give him a contract? what do you do with him? The guy is phenomenal, you only have to see the condition he’s in.
“You listen to the guys who talk about him at Liverpool, players who are there and youngsters coming through, they all look to him, he’s the benchmark every single day.”
Liverpool cannot allow Mohamed Salah to leave at the end of the season
Even if it means that FSG have to break their wage structure at Liverpool to get the Egyptian to extend his stay at Anfield, it feels like it would be a worthwhile cause.
Salah has been one of, if not the best players at Liverpool over the last few seasons and without him among their ranks, they’d no doubt be in a much worse-off position than where they currently find themselves.
Indeed, the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both in the spotlight too as the duo’s contracts also expire at the end of the term.

However, out of the three players who are yet to decide what they want to do, it feels like Salah could be the most important one for Liverpool to lock in.
The attacker is an exceptional professional and an even better footballer and without him among their ranks, it’s hard to see who Arne Slot and Richard Hughes would be able to bring in to replace him.
In other Liverpool news, Arne Slot could have a dilemma to solve about his starting XI after what a first-team ace did against PSV.
