Liverpool v Tottenham: Slot shares crushing Trent Alexander-Arnold injury news
Arne Slot has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is “unlikely” to feature in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Tottenham on 6 February.
The defender was hooked off the pitch in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday and was then replaced by Connor Bradley.
The Reds will be going into the game on Thursday on the backfoot as Spurs beat the Reds 1-0 last time out.
Taking to X on 1 February, talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook relayed what the Dutchman told him.
“Arne Slot has told talkSPORT Trent Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to be fit for the second leg of Liverpool’s EFL Cup semi-final at home to Tottenham after being forced off injured in the win at Bournemouth,” he wrote.
Liverpool need to be at their best against Tottenham
On paper, Tottenham might not seem like the hardest of opponents to face but the fact that the Carabao Cup is one of their only chances to earn some silverware this season means that Ange Postecoglou will be sending his men out to win.
Spurs have had a terrible time in the Premier League this season with injuries among other things affecting how well they can perform.
And, even though the Reds have been one of the most dominant forces in the Premier League this season, it feels like they’re due to slip up at some point.

While the Carabao Cup won’t be Liverpool’s only chance at a trophy this term, it would be nice for Slot to get his men into a final and perhaps even end up winning it in his first season.
However, now that Alexander-Arnold is set to be out, things could be a little trickier for the Merseyside outfit.
In other Liverpool news, Arne Slot could have a dilemma to solve about his starting XI after what a first-team ace did against PSV.
