Parlour loves ‘Perfect’ American Football-esque decision Slot made at Liverpool

Ray Parlour believes Liverpool making wholesale changes against in midweek is “perfect” for their “tricky” Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

The Reds currently sit on top of the Premier League table and while they may have lost against PSV last time out, the Reds were able to rest several players as they look to return to winning ways against the Cherries.

Arne Slot’s men currently have a six-point gap between themselves and second-placed Arsenal but with their game in hand over the Gunners, they could end up going nine points ahead.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (31 January, 06:25am), Parlour shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash between the two top-flight sides and said it was good that several players earned a break ahead of visiting the Vitality Stadium.

“It’ll be a tricky game for Liverpool but they’ve rested all their big stars in the week so you expect them to be fresh and ready to go,” he said.

“It’s a little bit like American Football, when all their offense come on and then their defense come on, it a little bit like Liverpool ‘right now here’s our second string, you can play today and then we’ll bring our main people in for the next game’, [it’s] perfect.”

Liverpool have a tough fight on their hands against Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola’s men are in an outstanding run of form at the moment and have been one of the surprise packages in the top flight this season.

The Cherries have managed to make their way up the table and currently sit seventh in the top flight, just one point adrift of the top four spots.

However, as Parlour mentioned, one thing that the Reds do have going for them is that their best players managed to get a nice bit of rest against PSV as they weren’t brought on throughout the clash as Liverpool had already secured themselves qualification to the next round.

This means that the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk will be ready and raring to go with a full tank of energy ready to exert in their clash.

There’s no knowing how things will end up on Saturday but at the moment, with the players that the Reds rested in midweek, the odds seem to be tipped slightly in the favour of Slot’s men.
