Mohamed Salah to get ‘Unbelievable’ Liverpool contract amid Saudi transfer news

Ray Parlour has backed Mohamed Salah to stay put at Liverpool where he would get an “unbelievable contract” by staying at Anfield.

There has been plenty of speculation over the Egyptian’s future at Anfield with his current deal expiring at the end of the campaign.

The forward has been linked with a move away from England, though, with The Telegraph (28 January) naming Al-Hilal as the favourite to sign Salah if he does leave.

However, talking live on talkSPORT (31 January, 9:53am), Parlour admitted he doesn’t see it happening.

When asked if he sees the 32-year-old moving to Saudi Arabia, he replied: “I don’t think so. He’s going to get an unbelievable contract at Liverpool.

“I think he’s at one of the best clubs, they’re really competing, the manager’s. You always look at the new manager. I think Jurgen Klopp when he left, I think all the players were going what’s this guy going to be like? Because you don’t know, it’s a clean slate for a lot of the players and he might have really enjoyed working with Arne Slot.

“So I do believe he will stay, I really do. I think Trent obviously has made up his mind. I think van Dijk and Salah will sign the contracts.

“What sort of contract is he going to get at Liverpool, it’s still going to be big money, isn’t it? How much money do you need? If you’re really happy, it’s legacy he’s going to set for Liverpool.

“He could become an absolute, which he is anyway, an absolute proper legend, up there with Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard people like that and everybody will remember Mo Salah if he stays.”

Liverpool need to secure Mo Salah on a new contract

With three key players coming to the end of their contracts at Anfield, this has been a conversation that has dominated the headlines for some time now and the Reds need to look at getting the situation sorted as the vital months of the Premier League edge closer.

There is no questioning how crucial Salah is in the Liverpool side and his tally of 19 goals and 13 assists in the league this term shows that without any follow-up questions being necessary.

Although the opportunity of Saudi Arabia can be tempting due to the astronomical wages being paid in the Saudi Pro League, as Parlour says, it’s not as if Salah won’t be on an exceptionally high wage if he stays at Liverpool too.

Furthermore, competing in the Premier League allows the forward to stay fresh for longer by competing at a top level while also keeping such a key part of the engine at Anfield for longer as Slot looks to bring success to Merseyside.

If the Reds can keep their standards high this term and come away with a trophy, or multiple, to show for it, there is no reason why their starman couldn’t be convinced to stay and solidify his legendary status.
