Chiesa exit news emerges from Liverpool as Napoli do their homework

Federico Chiesa has now “entered the notes” of Napoli manager Giovanni Manna ahead of the 3 February winter transfer deadline, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reported via their website (29 January) that the Naples-based club were looking towards the Italian as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

However, the report adds that the Italian has fallen “madly in love” with Liverpool since his arrival, making a move feel unlikely.

Liverpool can’t afford to get rid of Federico Chiesa

While the winger hasn’t always been available for Liverpool this season due to injury, when he’s been called upon he’s made a good name for himself.

The winger played his first full 90 minutes for Liverpool for a while on Wednesday when the Reds fell to a 3-2 defeat against PSG in the group stages of the Champions League.

In the end, the defeat didn’t end up affecting where the Reds placed in the Champions League but it did set them up to face a much harder opponent in the next round.

Chiesa played the entirety of the game and alongside Cody Gakpo, was one of the Merseyside outfit’s most influential players on the pitch.

It’s still early days in his Liverpool career and the fact he’s been injured for most of it so far means that the Reds haven’t given him enough of a chance to prove his worth just yet.

So, even if clubs do come knocking before 3 February, it still feels like a move that shouldn’t be sanctioned.
