Jorrel Hato responds to Liverpool transfer question after Anfield visit
Liverpool target Jorrel Hato was coy when asked about his future after he was spotted at Anfield on Saturday.
Images that emerged on social media on 25 January of the Ajax defender watching the Reds’ 4-1 demolition of Ipswich Town had supporters excited about a potential transfer.
However, the 18-year-old confirmed that he had been invited by compatriot Ryan Gravenberch rather than club officials.
When asked whether a move to Anfield may be on the cards in the future ahead of Ajax’s Europa League clash with Galatasaray, he responded via De Telegraaf, saying: “Could be, I don’t know.”
Could Jorrel Hato move to Liverpool?
A move to the Anfield outfit makes sense for the promising Dutch star given the fact that Arne Slot, Virgil van Dijk, Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo are compatriots.
The Reds also need a new defender who can play on the left side as Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are not at the required level, it seems.
They also require a long-term replacement for Van Dijk, who at 33 years old does not have an extended amount of time left at the top echelons of the game.

Therefore, the Dutch star makes sense as a target for the Merseysiders in the long-term but a move this late in the window seems unlikely.
Slot confirmed that his side will be in the market for new additions in the summer [BBC Sport], so a move for Hato could be on the cards then.
One thing is for sure, the Ajax star is not likely to be leaving the Amsterdam Arena this month.
In other Liverpool news, Slot could be set to unleash an “X-factor” Reds gem against PSV on Wednesday evening.
