Mohamed Salah exit: Al-Hilal ‘favourites for Liverpool star’ after Neymar news

Al-Hilal are the favourites to sign Mohamed Salah if he leaves Liverpool, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reported via their website on Tuesday (28 January) that the Saudi Pro League club have the space and finances required for a marquee signing after terminating Neymar’s contract by mutual consent.

Al-Ittihad were previously deemed as the most likely destination for the Egypt international, but Al-Hilal are now viewed as the strongest contenders, although there is no chance that they can sign him during the ongoing winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, the newly-approved FIFA regulations would allow the Riyadh-based club to sign Salah before the start of the Club World Cup in June.

Liverpool must keep Mohamed Salah at all costs amid Al-Hilal concern

This is not the news that Liverpool fans wanted to hear. Salah is in the final six months of his contract at Anfield, but the Reds faithful remain hopeful that he will extend his stay on Merseyside beyond this season.

Liverpool have shown their desire to retain Salah’s services, making proposals for a new contract, while the forward has indicated his desire to stay.

However, negotiations over a fresh deal are yet to bear fruit, thus raising concerns over the 32-year-old’s future at the Premier League club.

There is no doubt that Al-Hilal would offer Salah significantly higher wages if he were to leave Anfield.

However, it is evident that the former Chelsea attacker is keen to continue playing at the highest level despite being on the wrong side of his 30s.
