Liverpool transfers: Carragher hints at big-money signing after what’s happened

Liverpool may have a big pot of money to sign players in the summer transfer window, Jamie Carragher says.

The ex-Reds defender believes the Merseyside outfit could have a vast sum to spend at the end of the season after not signing many players recently.

Federico Chiesa was the only arrival at Anfield last summer, and no additions have been made in the winter window.

Speaking on The Overlap [28 January], Carragher said: “The fact that Liverpool haven’t bought anyone this window, didn’t really buy anyone in the summer, there must be a big pot of money there to buy whoever they want maybe next summer.

Liverpool transfer strategy pays off after Arne Slot arrival

While many fans were worried about the Reds’ lack of initiative in the market at the start of the campaign, their current position vindicates their decision.

The Merseysiders are at the top of the table in the Premier League and look like favourites to win the title, with a six-point gap over second-place Arsenal.

Slot has also worked his magic in the Champions League, as the team have a perfect record in the competition so far.

Liverpool have seen Michael Edwards return, and supporters have high expectations from him after a successful spell as the sporting director previously.

Players like Ryan Gravenberch, who faltered to deceive last season, have come into their own under the former Feyenoord head coach.

Recent transfer activity has arguably put the Reds in a stable financial position, which will only increase the fanbase’s eagerness for the upcoming transfer window.

How will the Merseyside outfit utilise their potential funds? Only time will tell.
