Liverpool have sorted two of the three major expiring Anfield contracts, according to Darren Bent.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah will all leave the Reds at the end of the season as things stand, as the current contract saga continues to be an unnecessary distraction.

The ex-Premier League forward shared the information live on talkSPORT (27 January, 4:51pm). While he revealed that he couldn't name names, Bent believes two deals are already over the line, backing up Robbie Fowler's similar claim.

He said: "I've heard a couple are done."

Liverpool finally move to end the contract saga

The Reds have played with fire this season and can consider themselves extremely fortunate not to be burned.

It is clear to all supporters who the two names in question are - Salah has long been touted to extend his stay on Merseyside while negotiations with Van Dijk have been viewed as merely a formality.

On the other hand, Alexander-Arnold is likely to call time on his boyhood club in the summer and leave to become the latest marquee arrival at Real Madrid.

As per Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri (23 January), the Reds vice-captain "wants to get the biggest offer" and has rejected several approaches to extend his Anfield deal.

Although the player cannot be blamed for his contract nearing its end, his radio silence and his handling of the situation are downright disrespectful.

There is no smoke without fire, and as more pundits make the same claim, it is only a matter of time before Van Dijk and Salah are pictured at Anfield with their new contracts.

Trent's impending move to Real Madrid is the worst-kept secret in football, but he has allowed the saga to play out in Arne Slot's debut campaign and shroud a potential Premier League title charge.

The sooner he is no longer a Red, the better.
