Slot bang on about ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool star after what he did v Ipswich

Arne Slot added yet another impressive win to his tally at Liverpool after the Reds beat Ipswich 4-1 at Anfield on Saturday.

The two sides faced off in a Premier League clash on 25 January and although the Tractor Boys have only won one out of their last five top-flight games, the Reds didn’t go into it expecting to demolish them.

Slot has been hailed from all angles for the work he’s done at Anfield since taking over from Jurgen Klopp and one player who has come on leaps and bounds in his tenure is Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Hungary captain is now a key cog in the Reds’ system and he opened the scoring against Ipswich, leading to huge praise from his boss.

“I think in the beginning of the season he would have played that ball to Mo which most of the time is a very good choice because Mo can definitely score a goal as well,” Slot said in a video, via This is Anfield on X (26 January).

“Now he decided to score a goal for himself and it’s nice for him because in my opinion he’s a bit underestimated, not by me but he doesn’t always get the credit for the fact that he’s very important for this team.

“His work rate is unbelievable, he just keeps on running with the highest intensity and that is so important for a team that wants to compete for something.”

Dominik Szoboszlai has come into his own at Liverpool

After being brought to Anfield last summer, Szoboszlai has quickly become one of the most important players among Slot’s ranks.

The attacking midfielder has been in stellar form this season and his performance against Ipswich on 25 January was no different.

As per Sofascore, in the 68 minutes he was on the pitch, he managed to maintain a pass accuracy of 92 per cent and had 48 touches of the ball.

Before his substitution, Szoboszlai managed to net himself a goal and made one key pass.

The Hungary international generated an xG of 0.67 and an xA of 0.04, while these stats might not seem all that enthralling, it shows how involved he was in the clash.

Last season, Klopp used the midfielder further back in the team whereas now, he seems to find himself as the main link between the attack and midfield which is the area of the pitch he seems to thrive in.

Defensively he was also pretty impressive as he won 100 per cent of the aerial duels he challenged for and only lost possession of the ball six times.

Szoboszlai is making all the difference right now.
