Szoboszlai likened to peak Iniesta after what happened in Liverpool v Ipswich
Liverpool supporters have waxed lyrical about Dominik Szoboszlai after what he did for Liverpool against Ipswich Town.
Despite concerns prior to kick-off that the match could be postponed, the Reds were in cruise control at Anfield on Saturday (25 January) as Arne Slot’s men took a three-goal lead heading into the interval during the 4-0 win.
Although Andy Gray questioned Slot’s team selection, with Darwin Nunez nowhere to be seen, Liverpool did not need the Uruguayan as Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo scored three unanswered goals before the latter added another to finish the rout.
And it was the Hungarian’s opening goal which had the Reds supporters in awe on social media.
Liverpool supporters love Dominik Szoboszlai
Szoboszlai has endured mixed fortunes since arriving at Anfield via RB Leipzig last summer.
The 24-year-old “could have had five” goals in the 2-0 win against Brentford last weekend but only needed one opportunity to get on the scoresheet against Ipswich.
All Liverpool supporters know the quality Szoboszlai possesses, particularly his ability to strike the ball from range. Seeing him score from outside the box has the fans glowing.
One supporter believes he is “the best number 10 in the Premier League”, whereas another fan compared the midfielder to Barcelona great Andres Iniesta.
Another supporter ran out of superlatives to describe Szoboszlai’s performances for the Reds, writing: “How Szoboszlai has transformed during his time with Liverpool… from an average, almost invisible player to a masterful attacker… he’s fast, physical, intelligent and strategic, reads the game and makes quick decisions… [a] beauty to behold.”
The Hungarian showed great determination to wear the burden of the number eight shirt at Anfield, and it’s safe to say he has failed to live up to the promise thus far.
However, his recent displays are a positive sign of things to come. Clearly, the Liverpool faithful believe in his ability. Perhaps it’s time for Szoboszlai to take note.
