Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold stunned Paul Merson with a "ridiculous" moment in the 4-1 win against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

With the Reds already clear at Anfield approaching the half-time mark on 25 January, the 26-year-old released a stunning cross that nearly led to Luis Diaz extending their advantage.

The Reds star is known for his on-the-ball ability but his latest stunning pass attempt wowed the former Arsenal man.

Speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (25 January, 15:50pm), he said: "Trent Alexander [Arnold] has just done this cross, I mean it is ridiculous.

"It bounces and he volleys it across the box and Diaz nearly gets on the end of it.

"Nearly one of the greatest balls you've ever seen in football."

Liverpool need to sort Alexander-Arnold contract

This could be the last few months that we see Alexander-Arnold starring for the Anfield side with his contract expiring in the summer.

That would be a huge shame given his passing abilities and the fact that he is playing for his boyhood club, which he joined when he was six years old.

However, interest from Real Madrid persists and the academy graduate is yet to commit his future to the Anfield outfit.

The Reds need to do everything they can to tempt their homegrown star to stay on Merseyside as it would be a huge challenge to replace him.

The England international may be charmed by the intrigue of the Spanish capital and the potential extra level of fame that comes with playing for Los Blancos.

However, Richard Hughes, the Reds sporting director, needs to pull out all the stops to ensure that Alexander-Arnold does not depart for the Bernabeu.
