Liverpool-linked forward now reaches agreement amid £19m reveal

Liverpool-linked Rayan Cherki has a “gentleman’s agreement” with Lyon owner John Textor for the American to accept a bid of £19million in the winter transfer window, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist reported via the TEAMtalk website (24 January) that while the Reds have shown an interest in acquiring the Frenchman’s services, he’s more likely to make a move to the Bundesliga.

The report added that both Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are leading the charge to acquire the playmaker’s services with Bayern Munich also a team to watch out for in the dying embers of the window.

Liverpool should throw their hat back into the ring for Rayan Cherki

While Liverpool’s attack isn’t the first place that Arne Slot needs to bolster within Liverpool’s ranks, it wouldn’t hurt for them to at least give it a go.

The Lyon ace is a very versatile player who can be deployed in the number 10 role or on either of the two flanks.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a player who has already piqued the interest of the Merseyside outfit this window with the Georgian eventually opting to join PSG instead.

While no talks or anything like that were held, it shows that Slot does have some money to play with and for a fee of £19million, it feels like a no-brainer for Liverpool to at least try and make a move for Cherki.

He’d bring a new element to the attack due to his attacking flair and his keen eye for a pass would also go a long way.

Only time will tell if Liverpool makes any additions in the winter transfer window but if they do, Cherki should be at least considered as an option.
