Andy Robertson proves he is not ‘finished’ as Liverpool win v Ipswich
Liverpool star Andy Robertson has been criticised for his recent performances for the Premier League leaders.
The Reds were urged to sell the Scotland international as he was branded as “finished” by supporters following the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on 15 January.
Reports emerged linking the Merseysiders with a move for Bournemouth ace Milos Kerkez before that clash [iNews] as the 30-year-old’s long-term replacement at Anfield.
However, he bounced back and proved that he could still perform at the top level with a brilliant performance in the 4-1 victory against Ipswich at Anfield on 25 January.
Robertson shines for Liverpool despite recent struggles
The former Hull City man will be enshrined as one of the best signings in Reds history after his £8 million transfer in 2017.
He was an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side that won the Champions League and Premier League, with him and Trent Alexander-Arnold redefining the modern full-back role.
However, his influence has begun to diminish in the last season and a half and he has looked a shadow of the player that he once was.
He was sent off in the 2-2 draw with Fulham on 14 December and Kostas Tsimikas was selected ahead of him for the 2-0 victory over Brentford last weekend (18 January) and the 2-1 win over Lille in midweek (21 January).
That has led to links with the likes of Kerkez growing stronger but the veteran rewound the clock with a throwback performance against the Tractor Boys as he proved the doubters wrong.

The 80-cap international recorded a 90 per cent pass accuracy, created two chances and made a staggering 17 passes into the final third against Kieran McKenna’s side. [Fotmob]
Robertson made one clearance, and five recoveries and was only dribbled past once in a solid defensive display at Anfield.
He won two of the three ground duels that he contested for a 67 per cent success rate against the relegation-threatened outfit.
The former Dundee United ace proved that he can still be an asset to Slot’s side this season as they chase success in four competitions.
He is not “finished” at the top echelons of the game as some supporters have claimed, there is still a lot left in the tank for Robertson to give as the Reds chase the Premier League and Champions League trophies and the two domestic cups.
