Liverpool versus Ipswich is expected to go ahead despite weather warnings across the UK for Storm Eowyn.

Red weather warnings are in place in central Scotland and Northern Ireland due to the storm bringing gusts of up to 100mph on Friday (24 January).

Some parts of Merseyside are set to fall under yellow and amber warnings on Friday but the storm is forecast to subside by Saturday (25 January), with no warnings in place by then.

The Reds’ Premier League clash with Ipswich on Saturday is, therefore, not expected to be affected.

However, as it stands, yellow warnings are in place over Merseyside for more high winds on Sunday (26 January).

Liverpool need to continue their momentum

The Anfield outfit needs to continue their momentum from the 2-0 victory over Brentford (18 January) and the 2-1 win over Lille (21 January).

Depending on results elsewhere, the Reds will be hoping to maintain or extend their six-point lead at the summit of the Premier League.

The last thing they need is another match being postponed due to a storm like the Merseyside derby on 7 December which fell to Storm Darragh and has been rescheduled for 12 February.

Another postponement would clog up their fixture list in the league and Champions League run-ins, putting pressure on Arne Slot's squad as they seek to lift both trophies.

They are in a very good position to do that in the Dutchman's first season in English football as things stand.

If they can, it will be a truly remarkable achievement and Slot would place himself in the history books after just one season.
