Liverpool loanee can save FSG millions after what he did
Liverpool loanee Calum Scanlon could save Fenway Sports Group millions after what he did against Cardiff City.
The 19-year-old gave Millwall a second-minute lead against the Welsh club but the Lions ultimately played out a 2-2 draw at the Den on Tuesday (21 January).
The Reds need a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson and have been linked with a £50million-plus move for Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez. [iNews]
However, they could save a fortune if the former Birmingham City ace continues to impress in his loan spell in London.
Could Calum Scanlon be future Liverpool left-back?
The England Under-20 international has started the last two Championship matches for Alex Neil after struggling with injury for most of the season.
He returned to the Reds in mid-September to receive treatment for his injury and only rejoined the Lions earlier this month.
He has featured in a more advanced role in those two appearances and that paid off on Tuesday night as he smashed a great strike home to give his side the lead.
Robertson has thrived in an advanced role for the Reds for years but his ability is starting to decline and the Merseysiders could be set to move on from the Scot in the near future.
Scanlon needs to put a solid run of matches together and continue to gain experience of senior football in a competitive league.
If the young star can become a permanent fixture during his loan and finish the season strongly, he could become a part of Arne Slot’s squad next season.
