Bournemouth expert drops £40m+ Liverpool transfer update for Kerkez – Exclusive
Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez could cost over £40million, Liverpool News has been told.
Alex Smith, of the Bournemouth Echo, exclusively told Liverpool News that the Cherries wouldn’t entertain offers below that for the 21-year-old left-back.
A report from iNews on 15 January claimed that the Reds are ready to gazump Manchester City and Manchester United for their long-term Andy Robertson replacement.
Smith did warn that price could rise with European qualification this season, saying: “I think Cherries won’t entertain anything below £40million and I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked for more than that.
“Kerkez has been exceptional this season and has been very consistent too – and at just 21 and with a contract to 2028 the ball is in Bournemouth’s court.
“If they do qualify for a European competition that price tag may well be further inflated and players may also be persuaded to stay on the south coast.”
Why do Liverpool want Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez?
The Hungarian has emerged as one of the most promising prospects in the English game since his move to the Cherries in July 2023.
The 21-year-old has made 50 Premier League appearances, scoring two goals and notching four assists in his time at the Vitality Stadium including a strike in the 4-1 win over Newcastle on 18 January.
Kerkez has proved himself as a defensively solid left-back despite his attacking tendencies and Smith thinks that he could handle the pressure of a move to Anfield.
He said: “I think if he was to leave Cherries and go to Liverpool, he would suit the style there and I think he’d handle it well. He’s been playing senior, top-level football for a while now and as I said is still only 21 so any next step I’m sure he would take in his stride.“

The Reds require a long-term replacement for Robertson with the Scottish international a shadow of the player that he once was when he was an integral member of the Champions League and Premier League-winning side under Jurgen Klopp.
The Merseysiders sporting director Richard Hughes signed the 21-cap international for the Cherries in his time on the south coast and his relationship with his former club would probably make a deal easier to complete.
The Reds could secure their starter on the left side of defence for the next decade if they signed Kerkez.
