Liverpool front-runners in bid to sign Nico Williams after £50m Ornstein update
Liverpool are one of the front-runners to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
The Reds have emerged as serious contenders to sign the Spain international with 5/1 odds on Unibet, BetMGM and LiveScore [Oddschecker].
Arsenal, though, are deemed as the most likely destination for Williams after the summer transfer window with the aforementioned platforms rating them 4/1 odds on favourites to sign him.
This comes after David Ornstein revealed that the Bilbao star has a release clause worth around £50million [The Athletic, 7 January].

Manchester United and Chelsea are also in the mix to sign the 22-year-old with 13/2 odds, while Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona have also been linked.
As per Ornstein, Liverpool looked at the possibility of signing Williams last summer. With Mohamed Salah in the final six months of his contract, the Reds still appear to be interested in him.
Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, would like to add the winger to his ranks during the ongoing winter transfer window.
However, the £50m release clause coupled with his wages makes a potential deal unlikely at the moment.
Therefore, a summer transfer seems to be the more viable option for the interested parties.

It is worth noting that the right-footed winger has had a quiet season so far, managing just three goals and five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Only one of those goals and three assists came in La Liga.
