Elon Musk takeover latest: Liverpool fans rage at ‘garbage’, ‘sinister’ update
Liverpool supporters have told Elon Musk a bid to takeover the club from Fenway Sports Group is not welcome.
The owner of X has been touted as prospective new owner of the Reds after his father admitted in an interview with Times Radio (4 January) that his son would one day like to become the new owner.
John Henry is hardly a beloved figure on Merseyside and despite making great strides to improve commercial revenue across the board, his lack of investment into the squad has been a cause of concern for many years.
However, the supporters offered a split opinion when the Musk links first arose, but after the American billionaire was seen performing two Nazi salutes via PatriotTakes on X, at the Donald Trump inauguration on Monday (20 January) the mood has quickly changed.
Liverpool supporters do not want Elon Musk
Although the reports were merely hearsay, Musk has undoubtedly ruined any chance of taking over Liverpool.
The Reds are a working-class club with working-class values and a history of fierceness in upholding those values and beliefs – ask a certain newspaper based in the South.
Therefore, if you openly oppose those beliefs, the supporters will not stand for it, and the consensus is overwhelming on Merseyside.
In true Scouse fashion, one supporter claimed anyone who still wants Musk at the Reds is “proper weird” whereas another fan believes he is “the polar opposite” of everything Liverpool stands for.
Another supporter took this viewpoint a step further, writing: “Everything Elon Musk stands for goes against the values of Liverpool Football Club regardless of where he was born” – his South African heritage was used as a justification for his actions.

FSG may not be the most ambitious owners for the Reds, but this latest incident is a stark reminder to the supporters crying out for a change in ownership: the grass isn’t always greener.
As for Musk, thanks, but no thanks, your services will not be required at Anfield.
