Tottenham next manager: Liverpool icon shock contender amid Postecoglou chaos
Ange Postecoglou is under severe pressure at Tottenham and a Liverpool icon is one of the favourites to replace him.
Spurs fell to a 3-2 defeat to Everton on Sunday (19 January) that left the North Londoners in 15th place in the Premier League – 26 points behind the table-topping Reds.
The former Celtic man is the 1/2 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post [Oddschecker] after a run in which his side have won once in 10 league matches.
Former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso is at odds of 8/1 with Bet Victor to replace the Australian, the third favourite behind Edin Terzic (9/2) and Andoni Iraola (11/2).

The Anfield icon has been in charge of Bayer Leverkusen since 2022 and led them to a domestic treble, almost achieving a sensational unbeaten season before his side lost the Europe League final to Atalanta.
The 43-year-old was touted as a potential Jurgen Klopp replacement on Merseyside but committed himself to his current club before the Reds appointed Arne Slot.
His Leverkusen side are currently second in the Bundesliga – four points behind leaders Bayern Munich and fourth in the Champions League table.
Whether Spurs would be able to tempt the midfielder who played for the Reds from 2004 to 2009 to North London is questionable with the likes of Real Madrid interested in his services.
Alonso has also been linked with the Manchester City job if Pep Guardiola leaves his post – he is the joint-favourite at 3/1 with Girona boss Michel. [Oddschecker]
Whatever happens, it will be uncomfortable for Reds supporters to see an icon managing a rival club, although they are happy with Slot, who has them top of the Premier League and Champions League.
