Diogo Jota injury update emerges before Liverpool v Lille
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota could miss the Champions League clash with Lille on Tuesday, according to James Pearce.
The Athletic journalist reported on 20 January that the 28-year-old missed a training session that was open to the media ahead of the contest.
The Portugal international scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest (14 January) and looked set to seal his place as the Reds’ best option in the number nine role.
However, he missed the 2-0 win over Brentford on 18 January as a late brace from Darwin Nunez secured the three points and looks set to miss the duel with the French side.
Jota frustrates again at Liverpool
The ex-Porto ace has eight goals and two assists in 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season but is unlikely to improve on those numbers against Bruno Genesio’s side.
The former Wolves man has missed six Premier League and four Champions League matches so far this season and has featured for just 130 minutes in the last six games he has played in.
Some supporters have lost their patience calling for the Anfield club to sell the Portuguese attacker due to his constant injury issues.

He is Arne Slot’s best option in the number nine role when fit but that seems to be a rare occurrence lately for Jota.
That is a shame as Luis Diaz has failed to cement a permanent starting role up front after being moved centrally from his left-wing role.
The contest against Lille is a dead rubber for the Reds as they are already qualified for the knockout stages, they will hope to have Jota back for the league clash with Ipswich on 25 January.
