Mo Salah ‘needs time off’, Slot told to drop Liverpool star v Lille

Liverpool supporters have called on Arne Slot to rest Mohamed Salah against Lille on Tuesday.

The Reds face the French side on 21 January knowing that they are already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

They could leave several stars out to maintain fitness for the Premier League title race in an attempt to increase their six-point advantage at the summit.

The Egyptian should be one of those after he failed to score in the last two league matches according to the fans.

Liverpool fans want Salah rested for Lille clash

The fact that the clash in a dead-rubber for the Reds means that they can afford to rest some of their biggest players.

One supporter urged Slot to do exactly that and “go with all the kids” and saying that does not want Salah and other stars “anywhere near” the starting line-up.

Another commented that he hopes Federico Chiesa starts the contest with and that the Egyptian “looks like he could do with some rest.”

Liverpool

The 32-year-old has been in stunning form this season and is currently the standout contender for the Ballon d’Or award but is out of contract in the summer.

He has notched 21 goals and 17 assists in 30 matches in all competitions for the Reds as they lead both the Premier League and Champions League standings.

However, his two consecutive matches without a contribution has left supporters concerned over his fitness so it makes sense to rest him against the French side.

Hopefully then he can come back firing again and take Arne Slot’s side to the title in his head coach’s season in English football and what may be his last.
