Gary Lineker agrees with Thomas Frank claim about Liverpool on MOTD

Gary Lineker agrees with Thomas Frank that Liverpool are the “best team in the world” after the 2-0 win over Brentford.

The Reds left it late to beat the Bees with Darwin Nunez scoring two goals in the 90th minute to secure the victory at the Gtech Stadium.

That result combined with Arsenal’s draw with Aston Villa extended their margin at the summit of the Premier League to six points and Frank labelled them as the world’s best team after the contest.

The BBC Match Of The Day host responded to those claims (18 January, 22:46 pm), saying: “Thomas Frank said they are the best team in the world right now, and now obviously people will say well you have got to win the title first and you have got to probably win the Champions League.

“At this present moment in time, he is probably right.”

Liverpool in pole position for the title

The Reds are now in pole position for the title after results fell firmly in their favour on 19 January.

They recovered from a recent stumble in which they had dropped points in four of their last seven league games to come out of the weekend with a bigger advantage than they went in with.

Now, they will hope to take the momentum forward and cruise towards a 20th league title, matching the record of arch-rivals Manchester United.

Arne Slot deserves a huge amount of credit for the way he has taken the English game by storm in his first season at Anfield.

However, Jurgen Klopp also deserves recognition for leaving the Dutchman with the squad that he has used to dominate the top-flight so far this season.

Focus now turns back to the Champions League for a brief moment with a clash against French side Lille on Tuesday (21 January).
