Mohamed Salah ‘terrible’ as Sky Sports pundit mocks Liverpool star v Forest
Paul Merson called Mohamed Salah out for his “terrible” touch after the forward missed a one-on-one chance in the clash between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.
The Reds came away from the City Ground with a point after a 1-1 draw against Forest on Tuesday (14 January).
Arne Slot’s side had 23 chances in the game and will be frustrated they didn’t do more, especially after a one-on-one chance for the Egyptian in the 83rd minute of the game.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News (14 January, 9:38pm), Merson argued that the Liverpool forward should have done better as he said: “They’ve really stepped it up this half Liverpool but that’s because Forest have opened the game up and when they open the game up, that’s when Liverpool start passing through the line.
“This time the ball comes to Szoboszlai on the edge of the box, you think he’s going to shoot, he rolls it to Salah who comes running in from the right-hand side to bend it with his left, puts it horribly wrong.
“Salah’s away, one-on-one with the keeper, gets a terrible touch. He gets inside Williams, all he’s got to do is have a good touch, he’s one-on-one with the goalie, touch is terrible.
“He must have had blue circles for breakfast and it just goes bouncing off him and to the goalkeeper .”
Liverpool draw with Nottingham Forest
Given Nottingham Forest’s terrific form of late, a point away at the City Ground is not a terrible result for Liverpool although given the number of chances they had throughout the 90 minutes, they will be disappointed not to have come away with anything from the game.
Nevertheless, the Reds remain at the top of the table, six points clear of Forest in second place meaning Slot’s side have some breathing space still, although they will want to get their form back on track sooner rather than later.

The miss towards the end of the game is a chance you would certainly expect Salah to do better with and the 32-year-old will have been disappointed with his inability to do better.
Although the future of the forward at Anfield is still unsure, this one miss will surely not change the manager’s desire to try and extend his stay in Merseyside past the end of the campaign.
