Liverpool told to sign Kyle Walker after transfer bombshell
Liverpool should sign Kyle Walker amid speculation over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future, according to Dean Saunders.
Pep Guardiola announced the bombshell news that the 34-year-old wants to leave Manchester City following the 8-0 FA Cup win over Salford City. [Sky Sports]
The Reds have their dilemma at right-back with Real Madrid sniffing around Alexander-Arnold, who is out of contract in the summer.
The ex-Red made the suggestion live on talkSPORT (11 January, 21:05 pm) saying: “Do you want me to chuck a spanner in the works? It looks like Trent is leaving, why don’t Liverpool sign him?
“There you go, he’d be a good signing for Liverpool if Trent goes. I know they’ve got the young kid [Conor Bradley] coming through…by the way, he’s still quick, and if Trent is leaving.”
Liverpool to seal Kyle Walker signing?
Contract negotiations with Alexander-Arnold are still ongoing [Daily Mirror] but even if he departs for the Spanish capital, the Reds should not entertain signing Walker.
For starters, as Saunders highlights, they have Conor Bradley, who has shown his ability in the limited game time that he has received so far this campaign.
Secondly, the England star is not the same player as he used to be, he has been very defensively suspect this season and has not been able to rely on his pace.

The ideal situation is that Arne Slot’s side extend Alexander-Arnold of course, given his immense talent on the ball and the fact that he is a homegrown superstar.
However, they should not settle for a player who is clearly well past his best if they do have to replace him at the end of the season.
There is a reason why he wants to leave Manchester City, he cannot cut it at the top level of the game anymore.
In other Liverpool news, Mohamed Salah is set to return as Arne Slot makes eight changes for the Nottingham Forest clash.
