Liverpool fans think that they have the next Kylian Mbappe after Rio Ngumoha made his senior debut in the win against Accrington Stanley.

The 16-year-old started the 4-0 FA Cup third-round victory and played a total of 72 minutes before he was replaced by Jayden Danns.

The former Chelsea academy star completed the most dribbles in the contest with three, recorded an 89 per cent pass accuracy, and had five touches in the opposition box [Fotmob].

That performance has led to a wild overreaction from Reds supporters on social media about their latest young prodigy.

Do Liverpool have the next Kylian Mbappe?

The hype surrounding the England Under-17s international has gone into overdrive after the Accrington contest, one supporter commented in a post on X, saying: "16 mins into Rio Ngumoha's debut and I can say we have our Mbappe regen."

Another commented: "There's a long way to go in his career but Rio Ngumoha feels about as sure a thing as prospects go because I haven't seen a football player bar maybe Mbappe with feet as quick as him."

He was lured to Merseyside by a promise of a genuine pathway to the first-team and that has been fulfilled probably sooner before the young star could have ever imagined had he stayed at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds have developed a reputation for giving academy talents a chance to impress in recent years and supporters finally got to see what the hype was all about with an encouraging display albeit against League Two opposition.

Comparisons to the likes of Mbappe and Neymar are obviously over the top at the moment, but the sky is the limit if he continues on his current trajectory.
