Liverpool takeover: Kaveh Solhekol reacts to ‘jaw-dropping’ news on Sky Sports
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are not willing to sell the club after “jaw-dropping” rumours of an Elon Musk takeover bid, according to Kaveh Solhekol.
The Tesla tycoon was linked with a bid for the Reds in the print edition of Weekend Sport (4 January) and a Times Radio interview with his father only increased speculation.
The move would prove controversial with the majority of supporters due to the SpaceX owner’s links with far-right figures such as Tommy Robinson and Donald Trump.
Sky Sports News host Mike Wedderburn labelled the move as “jaw-dropping” but Solhekol shot the reports down, saying: “Liverpool is not for sale, the last time that the owners of Liverpool spoke on the record about the club potentially being for sale, they were very clear, the club is not for sale.”

The idea of the South Africa-born businessman turning the club into his personal propaganda machine is unthinkable.
While current incumbents FSG may irk supporters with some of their decisions, such as the current contract limbo with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, they have done a lot of good for the club too.
They hired Jurgen Klopp for starters, who brought the Anfield club’s maiden Premier League title, a Champions League win and several other trophies in his nine-year stint in the dugout.
They also oversaw the expansion of Anfield to take the capacity to 61,276 and brought it up to date with the modern era of the game.
They have been criticised for a lack of signings but Reds supporters should be careful what they wish for, they have taken the club to a thriving financial position with mega concerts and commercial deals.
The Boston-based conglomerate would not entertain a sale to the likes of Musk if they were to move on, they would like to ensure that they leave a positive legacy and that would ruin it.
