Khvicha Kvaratskheklia transfer: Liverpool could strike early in January
Liverpool could move early to sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskheklia if he leaves this month, according to David Ornstein.
The Athletic reporter claimed (9 January) that the Reds are not actively looking for a winger but would join the race for the Georgian’s signature if he becomes available.
The Anfield club faces competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea for the 23-year-old sensation who is under contract with the Italian club until 2027.
However, Ornstein believes that an impasse in agreeing on new terms in Naples has encouraged interest and could lead to a sale if a significant fee is offered.
Do Liverpool need Khvicha Kvaratskheklia?
The Reds are well-stocked in Kvaratskheklia’s preferred position which is the left wing, with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota all able to feature there.
However, the Georgian has the potential to be the best player in the world in his position in the future and has already established himself as one of the most dangerous attackers in Europe.
In 107 appearances for Napoli, he has scored 30 goals and notched 29 assists since his 2022 move from Russian club Rubin Kazan.

For his country, he has scored 17 goals and notched nine assists in 40 matches including a strike in a 2-0 win against Portugal at the European Championship in 2024.
An opportunity to sign one of the greatest upcoming stars in football does not come around that often so it makes sense for the Reds to be in the mix for Kvaratskheklia’s signature.
It could be the type of transformative signing that guaranteed that Arne Slot wins the Premier League in his maiden season in English football.
