Mohamed Salah fires back at Jamie Carragher after cryptic Liverpool post

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has fired back at Jamie Carragher over comments on his contract situation.

The Reds star is out of contract in the summer and is yet to agree on a new deal with the Anfield club.

The Egyptian international released a cryptic message on Instagram (6 January) leaving supporters even more concerned about the situation.

The ex-Red and Sky Sports presenter criticised the 32-year-old for the post during coverage of Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win over Wolves (6 January), saying: “I think the other two [Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold] could take a leaf out of Virgil van Dijk’s book.”

Salah responded in a post on X, saying: “I’m starting to think you’re obsessed with me.”

Not a good look for Liverpool or Salah

The Egyptian forward has not shied away from publicly speaking about his situation as he attempts to force the Merseyside club to give in to his demands.

The post felt significant, a picture of himself, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk, who are all out of contract in the summer.

He had told Sky Sports News (3 January) before the draw with the Red Devils that it is his last season with the club and he would like to win the Premier League as a result.

It all amounts to an attempt to pressure owners Fenway Sports Group to meet his demands and agree to a new deal to keep supporters onside.

The drama has not impacted his performances on the pitch with Salah leading the league for goals and assists with 31 contributions in 19 matches.

The Reds need to avoid distractions as they attempt to win the title in Arne Slot’s first season as head coach and this will not help.

In other Liverpool news, one Reds star has emerged as undroppable for Slot after the United draw.
