Carragher launches shock accusation at Alexander-Arnold team amid Liverpool news
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has launched a shock accusation at Trent Alexander-Arnold’s team amid the latest transfer update.
It was revealed on 31 December that Real Madrid have made an official approach for the 26-year-old [Andy Hunter] the day before he can talk to foreign clubs with his Reds contract expiring in the summer.
The Merseyside club have not received an indication that the academy graduate wants to leave, according to the report.
The Sky Sports pundit launched the stunning allegation in a post on X, saying: “I love Trent as a lad & a player, but his team would’ve told Real Madrid to bid & also would’ve known LFC would turn it down.
“It’s to try & cover themselves when he leaves for free.
“Again it’s something the club/fans don’t need with a huge game coming up.”
Alexander-Arnold Liverpool exit seems likely
The emergence of the news, just a day before Alexander-Arnold can negotiate a pre-contract agreement feels significant.
As Carragher claims it feels like a move to keep the Reds supporters on board if he does end up leaving the club for free.
It would be an absolute disaster for the club, replacing a generational talent who is one of the best in the world with the ball at his feet would be a major challenge.

It would also be a disaster for Alexander-Arnold, his legacy on Merseyside would be destroyed, he is an icon and has played a key role in the Premier League and Champions League title victories under Jurgen Klopp.
The way that the debacle has unfolded will anger the club and its supporters and does not do the Three Lions star any favours.
Unlike Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, the player is yet to give any public indication that he wants to stay and the latest updates seem like it is a matter of time before an official announcement that he is leaving.
In other Liverpool news, Curtis Jones was heralded by a Sky Sports pundit for his performance against West Ham.
