Curtis Jones improvement ‘Awesome’ after what he did for Liverpool v West Ham
Liverpool star Curtis Jones left Sky Sports man Dougie Critchley wowed with his “awesome” performance in the 5-0 win over West Ham.
The Reds dominated the Hammers at the London Stadium on Sunday (29 December) to take an eight-point lead in the Premier League and Jones continued his impressive season.
The academy graduate has emerged as a reliable option in the engine room under Arne Slot and made his senior England debut in November as a result.
Critchley took to X to praise the 23-year-old’s development during the win, saying: “Are we sure Curtis Jones is Scouse?!
“A player with this blend of technical assuredness, awareness, patience on the ball, as well as an abundance of flair and bite.
“He just doesn’t seem like he was made in the UK. His improvement this season has been awesome to see.”
Curtis Jones emerging as Liverpool star
The young midfielder has made 15 appearances in the Premier League so far this season and has played a key role in the Reds table-topping exploits.
He is well on his way to eclipsing the high of 24 league games he featured in during the 2020/21 season, and his contributions have also increased.
The Englishman has already surpassed the four goals (three goals, one assist) that he was involved in during the 2022/23 season.
So far this season, Jones has notched three goals and three assists in 811 league minutes.
His influence is growing under Slot and he looks to finally be developing into the kind of player that Reds supporters hoped he would be when he first broke into the first team.
The Merseyside club may be set to lose one of the local lads in their team with Trent Alexander-Arnold out of contract in the summer but Jones is ready to take the mantle.
