Nunez to be axed, two changes – Liverpool predicted XI v West Ham

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is expected to make two changes to his starting line-up for the trip to West Ham on Sunday.

Darwin Nunez could drop to the substitutes bench after a disappointing display in the 3-1 victory over Leicester on Thursday (26 December).

The Dutchman confirmed in his pre-match press conference [27 December] that the contest at the London Stadium (29 December) will come too soon for Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley.

Virgil van Dijk is expected to keep his place in the backline, the Reds captain made three recoveries, three clearances, two interceptions and won 100 per cent of his three ground duels on Thursday.

Andy Robertson might be rested with Kostas Tsimikas potentially set to return in his place, the Scottish international recorded a 93 per cent pass accuracy, created two chances, had 14 passes into the final third and made ten recoveries against the Foxes.

Ryan Gravenberch is predicted to continue at the base of the Reds midfield, he recorded a 96 per cent pass accuracy, created two chances, made four recoveries and two interceptions.

Curtis Jones is expected to keep his place after an impressive performance against Leicester, he scored in the contest and recorded a 92 per cent pass accuracy, had ten touches in the opposition box and won half of his six ground duels for a 50 per cent success rate.

Alexis Mac Allister might continue to partner Jones after his display on Thursday after Dominik Szoboszlai picked up his fifth booking of the season.

With the Hungarian suspended, the Argentina sensation is expected to keep his starting spot after he recorded a 90 per cent pass accuracy, notched two assists, made five passes into the final third and made five recoveries.

Slot continues to mix up his attack

Mohamed Salah is predicted to retain his place on the right, the Egyptian took his league tally for the season to 16 goals and 11 assists in the clash with Leicester.

On the left, Cody Gakpo is expected to retain his place from Thursday, he was brilliant against the Foxes, recording a 92 per cent pass accuracy, scoring the equaliser and notching an assist.

Darwin Nunez might be axed for Diogo Jota after recording a 53 per cent pass accuracy, creating zero chances and taking a total of just 25 touches in the Leicester win.

The Reds will be looking to finish the year on a high in their final match of 2024 and at the very least maintain their six-point gap at the top of the standings.
