View: Liverpool could continue academy revolution with Ayden Heaven transfer

Liverpool could be set to continue their youth team revolution with Arsenal youngster Ayden Heaven.

The Reds have transformed their youth recruitment system in the post-Brexit era snapping up the hottest talents from other teams’ academies.

The Reds have signed the likes of Trey Nyoni, Amaro Nallo, Harvey Owen, Ben Doak and Rio Ngumoha from British clubs in recent years.

No surprise that young players want to join Liverpool

It is no surprise that youth players want to join Liverpool as there is a clear pathway to the first-team squad at the club.

The likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Conor Bradley, Jayden Danns, Ben Doak, Lewis Koumas, James McConnell and Jarell Quansah have all featured for the Reds in the last few seasons with the majority of those playing a role in the EFL Cup win last season.

Trey Nyoni was the latest youth star to make his full debut in the 2-1 victory against Southampton in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Wednesday (18 December).

James Norris, Nallo and Ngumoha made the bench for the clash with the Saints but did not get on the pitch but it is only a matter of time before they make their first-team debuts.

Head coach Arne Slot seems just as keen to implement academy talents in his squad as former manager Jurgen Klopp was.

If that continues to be the case then more youth prospects will prefer to move to Anfield in the future, possibly starting with Heaven from Arsenal.
