Doctor: Liverpool ace Tsimikas may not be at 100% fitness after ankle injury

Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas may not be at 100 per cent after his ankle injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that despite him coming off the bench against Southampton on 19 December, it may take him some more time to be back to his best in terms of fitness.

Arne Slot’s side picked up a 2-1 victory in that game and progressed to the semi-final of the EFL Cup.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Liverpool News: “It’s difficult to tell the severity with foot and ankle injuries from limited information because they can evolve very quickly for better or for worse and have a range of responses.

It appeared to be a mild problem and he returned to training by mid-December.

He may still not be at 100 per cent fitness despite coming off the bench in mid-week.

Kostas Tsimikas has proven to be an important backup player for Liverpool

The 28-year-old has made six Premier League appearances this season with most of them coming off the bench.

He’s undoubtedly a player Slot trusts to bring on when Andy Robertson is fatigued or unavailable.

Once he’s back to full fitness, he could even be playing more minutes and easing Robertson’s workload.
