Liverpool title prediction made by Super Computer after Southampton win

Liverpool have been predicted to win the Premier League comfortably by the Opta Super Computer after the win over Southampton on Sunday.

The Reds extended their lead at the top of the league to eight points with a narrow 3-2 victory on the south coast on 24 November as a result of Mohamed Salah’s excellence.

Arne Slot’s side can go 11 points clear at the summit if they beat Manchester City next weekend (1 December).

For now, though, they are predicted to finish on 86.23 points and have a 76.03 per cent likelihood of lifting the title.

Liverpool should not get too excited yet

Unfortunately for the Reds, football is played on the pitch, not on paper and there is a lot of the season left to play.

It is the second-biggest lead in Premier League history after 12 matches, with Manchester United holding a nine-point advantage at this stage in the 1993/94 season.

A good omen for Arne Slot’s side is that the Red Devils went on to win the title in that season after boasting the same amount of points as the Reds have so far this campaign.

A win against Pep Guardiola’s side next weekend would put the Merseysiders in a very favourable position and have supporters dreaming of a repeat of the 2019/20 season, when Jurgen Klopp’s side ran away with the title after winning 26 and drawing one of their first 27 matches.

However, it is far too early for title talk with 26 games still left to play. A lot can happen in that time and Slot will have to ensure that his players and supporters do not get carried away.

It would be a really impressive start to his reign in the Anfield dugout if the Reds could win the title, but nothing is concluded yet despite what the Super Computer predicts.
