View: Arne Slot has incoming Liverpool headache as footage emerges of 88% ace

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has given Arne Slot a selection headache ahead of Sunday’s trip to Southampton after he was pictured in training.

The 32-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on October 5 and Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped up in his absence earning rave reviews.

The Brazilian had been recovering at the Reds training ground during the international break and returned to first-team training on 19 November, with pictures released by Liverpool showing him in a training session with Mohamed Salah and the Under-21 squad ahead of the club’s return to Premier League action on 24 November.

Alisson return a timely boost for Liverpool

The return of arguably the best goalkeeper in world football is a huge boost for Slot’s side.

Caoimhin Kelleher has been brilliant as the Brazilian’s replacement but his return is a timely one, especially with fixtures against Real Madrid and Manchester City on the horizon.

Alisson boasts an 88 per cent save percentage, which is the best in the Premier League [Fotmob].

He also ranks third for goals prevented (2.66) and for clean sheets with 3 behind Andre Onana and Mats Selz, who have both started 11 games compared to his six.

Most importantly he betters Kelleher’s metrics in all three categories, with the Irishman having a save ratio of 78.9 per cent, a goal prevented of 1.24 and only keeping two clean sheets in five league games.

Therefore it is obvious that Alisson should return to the starting XI when he is back to full fitness and if that is on Sunday, he should get the nod.
