Finance Expert shares how much Liverpool have earned from Champions League already

Liverpool will have already earned at least £22.4million from their Champions League escapades this season, Dan Plumley has said.

The Reds are the only team in Europe’s premier competition to have won all four of their games, sitting top of the new league format.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, the football finance expert shared an insight into how Arne Slot’s men have made their money already.

“Those four wins will have got them £6.9million, it’s £1.7million for a win so that’s a sizeable bit of revenue,” he said.

“You’ve already got £15.4million as a starting fee for being in the competition and so even in prize money alone, we’re already at £22.4million for the club before we take into account any TV money linked to that.

“We know the English clubs benefit more than others in the European market from the power of the Premier League and the coefficient.

“If they can stay towards the top of that table and if they finish top they’ll get an extra £8.3million as there’s prize money available where you finish in the league.

“It’s already really lucrative and can be more so for Liverpool and I’m sure their objectives are being in the knockout stages which will bring more prize money with it so yeah, even if you look at the participation fee and the games they’ve won so far, that’s already £22.4million”.

Liverpool need to reinvest some of their Champions League earnings in January

The start of the 2024/25 season has been one of the best in the Premier League, with Slot leading his side to the top of the Premier League.

Of course, the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohammed Salah are all still up in the air, with question marks hanging over new contracts.

Federico Chiesa Liverpool

The Reds only signed Federico Chiesa in the summer and while he’s not yet been able to have much of an impact due to injury, it’s signings like his which are needed at Anfield.

Even though the Champions League hasn’t advanced out of the league stages yet, the club have still received a sizeable sum in their bank account.
