View: Slot can’t ignore Liverpool youth sensation after what he did for U19s v Bayer Leverkusen

Arne Slot must seriously consider integrating Kieran Morrison into the first team fold at Liverpool after he scored again for the Under-19s against Bayer Leverkusen.

The 17-year-old fired in the equaliser at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday [5 November] after Kerim Alajbegovic opened the scoring for the visitors before Carter Pinnington, Keyrol Figueroa and Trent Kone-Doherty rounded off a comprehensive 4-1 victory.

Morrison replicated his domestic form in the UEFA Youth League after he provided a hattrick of assists for the Under-21s in a similar 4-1 win against Wolves in the Premier League 2 and, he should now be firmly on the first team radar at the Reds.

Kieran Morrison could benefit from the injury concerns at Liverpool

Liverpool are flying high across all fronts under Slot this season and retained the top spot in the Champions League league phase with a statement 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield [5 November].

However, the options among the frontline have dwindled in recent weeks with Diogo Jota a huge miss for the Reds and Federico Chiesa still nowhere close to his first team return.

Slot may be forced to turn to his academy prospects to help ease the burden ahead of the gruelling fixture schedule and none may be more ready to take the next step than Morrison.

He is showing maturity beyond his young areas, relying on his vision, creativity, and connection with his teammates to pull the strings for Barry Lewtas at the AXA Training Centre.

Furthermore, he can play anywhere across the front line and even deeper in the attacking midfield role, coincidently all positions that have proven a cause of concern at one point this season.

There is only so much longer Slot can overlook the promising forward and, should one of the available options further add to the injury woes at Anfield, Morrison will surely be at the forefront of discussion.

The Reds are blessed to have so many promising talents plying their trade in Kirkby, including Rio Ngumoha who has excelled since his summer arrival from Chelsea – expect the 16-year-old to also enter the first team frame in the coming weeks.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds are in contact to sign Real Madrid star who once rejected a move to Anfield.
