Konate shares if he will be available for Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen after sustaining injury
Ibrahima Konate has confirmed he did not sustain a serious injury for Liverpool in the 2-1 win against Brighton on Saturday.
Joe Gomez replaced Konate for the second half at Anfield after the 25-year-old collided with Virgil van Dijk, suffering a knock to his arm.
However, Konate took to his Instagram account [3 November] to update supporters on the injury, confirming the subsequent assessment has revealed he will be ready to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday [5 November].
He said: “Thanks for all the messages of support. My injury isn’t serious thankfully. I had a scan today and it confirmed there is no break. I’ll be ready for the next game – In Sha Allah!”
Liverpool avoid another injury scare to Ibrahima Konate
Arne Slot will be relieved his side have not suffered yet another injury setback this season as they are in the midst of a gruelling fixture schedule.
Liverpool will host Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League midweek before welcoming Aston Villa to Anfield on the weekend, with Real Madrid and Manchester City arriving for hugely anticipated bouts in the coming weeks.
Conor Bradley has returned to the first-team fold to share the minutes with Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back. However, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are still missing from the side with no immediate signs of a return.
Konate has forged a formidable partnership with Van Dijk this season, and while Gomez performed admirably against Brighton, neither he nor Jarell Quansah would be an adequate replacement for the Frenchman given the quality of opposition ahead.

The Reds have opened up a slender two-point gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League after Pep Guardiola’s shock 2-1 loss against Bournemouth this weekend. The momentum is well and truly with Liverpool in the title race.
However, Slot’s credentials will be tested and in all likelihood, the incredible start to the campaign is unlikely to continue due to the quality of the sides they will face, but this also could be the period that defines the Reds’ season.
Liverpool need all the top hitters fit and available to share the workload. Having Konate raring to go will only boost Slot’s chances of laying down a statement of intent across all competitions.
