‘Quite painful’ – Doctor: Liverpool ace may return to full first-team training in int’l break

Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota is expected to return to full first-team training during the international break, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that he appears to be out with a bruised rib or a sternum-type setback which can be quite painful.

However, once he returns to training, he is not likely to be given the full 90 minutes, but instead will be given bounce games as he aims to build up his match fitness.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Liverpool News 247: “Based on Slot’s comments and video replay, this looks to be a bruised rib or sternum-type injury.

These can be quite painful so the key with him will be pain tolerance and then risk of reaggravation if there is more contact made.

I reckon he’ll be back in full first-team training in the international break and ready to play bounce matches on the other side of it.

Diogo Jota will be a big miss for Liverpool

The 27-year-old is a threat in the final third whenever he’s fit and Arne Slot will surely be aware of that.

In seven league games this season, the Portugal international has scored two goals and provided as many assists for the Reds.

Hopefully, once he’s back, he can put his fitness issues aside and focus on playing regularly for the Merseyside giants.
