‘I do believe…’ – Jamie Carragher shares Alexander-Arnold exit verdict at Liverpool
Jamie Carragher believes Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool for Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The former Red offered his take on the full-back after the 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday [27 October] as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah equalised twice at the Emirates to salvage a valuable point in the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold recently revealed his aspiration to win the Ballon d’Or, in an interview with Sky Sports [26 October], leading Carragher to believe the Liverpool vice-captain has his heart set on a move to Real Madrid.
“The first thing that come to me when I read that interview, is that it makes me think he’s going to Real Madrid,” Carragher said live on Sky Sports [27 October, 2:04pm].
“I actually think Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah will stay, I do believe that. The longer it goes on with Trent, the more I feel he is going to move on.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving Liverpool feels inevitable
Carragher has echoed the belief of all Liverpool fans that the longer the defender’s contract talks drag on, the more likely he will end up at Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Whether or not his decision will be based on the money on the table or footballing merit, Madrid has both in abundance and can blow the Reds out of the water with any contract put in front of Trent.
While he has won everything on offer for his boyhood club, Liverpool have suffered crushing losses to Manchester City and Real Madrid in bids for Premier League and Champions League success – the sides denied former boss Jurgen Klopp a further two domestic league and European titles.

There is an overall expectation Trent will become the latest Galactico upon the expiry of his Anfield contract and should this come to fruition, the club will surely face the wrath of an outraged fanbase.
Arne Slot has been sensational since succeeding Klopp but success this season under the Dutchman is far from guaranteed, whereas Real Madrid can offer immediate success for Trent.
A win at the Emirates would have done wonders in showing Trent there will be further success at Anfield should he choose to extend his stay, but the next weeks will be crucial with massive ties ahead against Manchester City and the aforementioned Real Madrid.
