Liverpool title verdict revealed by supercomputer in final Premier League position prediction

Liverpool are now predicted to finish third in the Premier League this season after the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace, according to The Opta Analyst.

The supercomputer has updated the final position predictions after the latest round of Premier League fixtures, and the Reds are still not expected to win the title despite heading into the international break top of the league.

Arne Slot has won six from his opening seven Premier League matches at the Anfield helm, thanks to a Diogo Jota goal at Selhurst Park on Saturday [5 October], and his side currently lead title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal by one point.

Liverpool are predicted to end the season on 80 points with a 10.22 per cent chance of winning the Premier League title, and are expected to finish three points behind Arsenal in second place and nine points behind predicted winners Man City.

Liverpool have stamped their title credentials under Arne Slot

While many Reds supporters will have been underwhelmed by the lack of transfer activity over the summer, Slot is proving the doubters wrong at Liverpool this season.

The Dutchman was expected to undergo a post-Jurgen Klopp transition period with his inherited side but, barring a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, has been near-perfect in the Premier League.

With a 100 per cent start to the Champions League campaign to match, the Reds can rightfully feel disgruntled by the latest supercomputer prediction.

Man City have a 71.08 per cent chance of a historic fifth consecutive league title and 61.58 per cent more likely to win the league over Liverpool. Given they will miss Rodri for the rest of the campaign, this is seemingly extreme given the circumstances.

The Reds will embark on a difficult fixture run after the international break with domestic ties against Arsenal at the Emirates and Man City at Anfield ahead, with a Champions League match-up against Real Madrid at home sandwiched between.

Should Slot’s side come out on the other side of the damning fixture run stretching to mid-December still in Premier League contention, the supercomputer will have no choice other than significantly boost Liverpool’s chances of domestic success.

This is the period wherein Slot will be tested to the utmost of his ability and conclude the final verdict on whether he is truly the real deal for Liverpool.
