Rudkin raises ‘Calamitous’ Liverpool point ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Abigail Rudkin believes Liverpool will learn from the “calamitous error” that nearly cost the side against Wolves when travelling to face Crystal Palace on Saturday (5 October).

Ibrahima Konate failed to deal with a long ball towards Matheus Cunha early into the second half against Wolves, allowing Rayan Ait-Nouri to level the game for the hosts before Mohamed Salah put the game to bed for the Reds.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, Rudkin shared her belief that Arne Slot’s side will learn from their mistakes at Selhurst Park.

“When we’re conceding goals, it seems to be coming on an off-chance. None of it seems to be any sort of brilliant play that’s managed to break us down. We’re actually playing really well as a team.

“Everything seems to be pretty solid, and when you think about it, and you look back at the games we’ve played so far this season, we really have not conceded that much.

“We’ve done really well defensively, we seem a lot more cool, calm, and collected and that’s sort of what I’m expecting to see against Palace. I’m not expecting to see any sort of calamitous errors like that, I’m pretty sure when that happens once we’ve sort of learned from that.

“I can’t really see that becoming an issue again, going forward against Palace – I’m expecting a clean sheet for the Reds.”

Liverpool expected to continue winning run against Crystal Palace

Liverpool have made a habit of conceding goals from half-chances this season, a habit that must be put to bed against Crystal Palace.

The Seagulls are fresh off a 2-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park and, despite an underwhelming start in the Premier League for Oliver Glasner, still offer a significant threat to the Reds on home soil.

Slot will be out for revenge on behalf of his predecessor Jurgen Klopp, as the Reds’ 1-0 loss to Palace at Anfield last season courtesy of Eberechi Eze all but ended their participation in the race for the Premier League title.

Liverpool boast a stellar record at Selhurst Park having won eight out of the last nine visits to South London, and more of the same will be expected on Saturday (5 October) with Manchester City and Arsenal trailing only a point behind at the top of the league.

While Alisson and Konate can argue among themselves regarding who is to blame for the goal last weekend, it mattered little in the end with the Reds walking away from Molineux with all three points.

Slot demands the utmost standards from his inherited side and Liverpool will need to be at their best to continue their incredible march in the Premier League.
