View: Salah in 5/10 stinker, one player scores 9/10 – Liverpool player ratings v Crystal Palace

Arne Slot continued his sensational start to life at Liverpool with a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday (5 October).

The Reds made it nine wins from the last 10 visits to Selhurst Park as Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the visitors inside the first 10 minutes.

Virgil van Dijk led the defence against the Crystal Palace attack to see out a nervy one-goal victory in South London and now Liverpool fans face an anxious wait to learn the condition of Alisson and Alexis Mac Allister.

Alisson [off for Vitezslav Jaros 78′] – 7

The Brazilian was active against Crystal Palace, thwarting the hosts with four saves and ending with 1.13 goals prevented. Alisson produced a hatful of wonderful saves to keep the Reds in front. Liverpool fans now face a nervy wait to learn the extent of the injury that ended his afternoon.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7

Trent really tried to get things going for his side with 60 per cent long ball completion, with two key passes and one big chance created. The Reds full-back was solid all around with two tackles and one interception.

Ibrahima Konate – 7

Konate certainly made up for his error last weekend at Selhurst Park, winning 77 per cent of his duels with four tackles and completing 95 per cent of his passes and 75 per cent of his long balls.

Virgil van Dijk – 7

Van Dijk was the crown on top of the Liverpool defence winning 75 per cent of his duels, completing 92 per cent of his passes, 69 per cent of his 13 long ball attempts – which included one big chance created – and four interceptions in a colossal performance.

Kostas Tsimikas [off for Andy Robertson 78′] – 7

Tsimikas was exceptional despite reservations about his place in the side. The Greek defender completed 92 per cent of his passes, with one key pass, and completed 66 per cent of his long balls.

Ryan Gravenberch – 7

Gravenberch continued his stellar form with a 92 per cent pass completion rate, as well as two key passes and one big chance created, while also winning 60 per cent of his duels.

Alexis Mac Allister [off for Dominik Szoboszlai 45′] – 6

It was a fairly quiet outing for Mac Allister at Selhurst Park. He was removed at half-time by Slot for reasons unknown. The Argentine completed 83 per cent of his passes with one key pass and won 50 per cent while on the pitch.

Curtis Jones [off for Wataru Endo 88′] – 7

Jones enjoyed a productive return to the starting lineup, completing 98 per cent of his passes with two key passes, completing 100 per cent of his dribbles and winning 60 per cent of his duels.

Mohamed Salah [off for Luis Diaz 73′] – 5

The Egyptian was ineffective for Liverpool are his goalscoring exploits against Bologna. With only one shot on target and one big chance missed, Salah was marked out of the match by the Crystal Palace defence.

Diogo Jota – 8

Jota was the difference-maker again for the Reds and could have added more than his one goal with two big chances missed from two off-target shots. However, the Portuguese forward ran throughout the whole 90 minutes winning 40 per cent of his ground duels and 37.5 per cent of his aerial duels from 18 contested.

Cody Gakpo – 9

Gakpo absolutely ran the show for Liverpool on the left flank, he created five key passes including the assist for Jota, completed 75 per cent of his long balls, 100 per cent of his dribbles, and won 77 per cent of his duels in a truly Man of the Match performance from the Dutchman.

Substitutions:

Dominik Szoboszlai – 7

Szoboszlai picked up where left off at Selhurst Park winning 60 per cent of his duels, completing 100 per cent of his two attempted dribbles, and 80 per cent of his passes with one key pass.

Luis Diaz – 6

Diaz managed to make an impact from unfamiliar territory from the right flank with one key pass from six completed and completing his one cross attempt.
