View: 0% Dominik Szoboszlai axed in two changes – Liverpool starting XI v Crystal Palace

Arne Slot could make two changes to his Liverpool side when they travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday 5 October.

The Reds named a strong lineup on Wednesday [2 October] in the 2-0 win against Bologna in the Champions League and will be expected to make only a few minor tweaks to the side for the clash at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool currently sit at the top of the Premier League table after six matches, a run they will be required to extend heading into the international break with Arsenal and Manchester City not far behind.

Liverpool make decision on Dominik Szoboszlai

As always with the Reds, the defence should line up with the same personnel on the weekend with Alisson continuing in goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson at full-back, and Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate resuming their partnership in central defence.

Ryan Gravenberch was phenomenal once again for Liverpool in the Champions League, his fine form at the anchor of the midfield is an easy decision to be made for Slot and the 22-year-old should feature at the heart of the midfield on Saturday.

Dominik Szoboszlai performed admirably at Anfield midweek, however, his lack of threat in front of goal is becoming a constant concern for the Reds. As per Sofascore, he recorded only one off-target shot against Bologna, lost possession 10 times, and completed zero percent of his long balls and cross attempts. He should be dropped to the bench for the first time this season with Curtis Jones deputising to add more stability in the midfield.

In the Hungarian’s absence, Mac Allister should be rewarded with a more advanced role for Liverpool after opening his account for the season against Bologna. The Argentine has looked the more threatening of the regular midfield trio in the final third for the Reds and, his ability to split the opposition defence will prove vital to help break down a solid Palace backline.

Diogo Jota to return at the expense of Darwin Nunez

Federico Chiesa will be unavailable at the weekend after missing the midweek clash, meaning Mohamed Salah should undoubtedly continue on the right flank, the Egyptian will surely see his minutes managed once the Italian returns to the side after the international break.

Darwin Nunez started in the Champions League with Diogo Jota nursing a minor foot injury, the Uruguayan was ineffective midweek with only one shot on target, completed 0 per cent of his dribbles and only found teammates with 33 per cent of his passes with only 23 touches throughout his time on the pitch. Jota should return to the starting lineup in place of his misfiring teammate to lead the line for Liverpool.

Luis Diaz surprisingly failed to continue his free-scoring form in the 2-1 win against Wolves last weekend but with Cody Gakpo selected ahead of the Colombian midweek, Diaz should return for the Premier League clash with the forwards sharing the minutes on the left flank under Slot.
